REC REG 2 AUG TR
I am directed by the Danish Chamber of Manufacturers to request you to be so good as to transmit instructions by wire to Hong Kong permitting the firm of Nordisk Fjerfabrik to ship from Hong Kong to Liverpool by means of a British Shipping Line a consignment of 8000 bales of feathers.
The feathers were originally intended for direct shipment to Denmark, but owing to the fact that His Majesty's Government were unable at that time to give assurances as to the unhindered passage through the Blockade, the shipment was cancelled.
I have been informed orally as well by the Contraband Committee as the Foreign Trade Department that no objections would be raised to shipment to Great Britain. It, however, appears that the firm has been unable to obtain the consent of the British authorities at Hong Kong.
The Danish Chamber of Manufacturers would feel greatly obliged if you will be so good as to wire the necessary instructions to Hong Kong.
I have the honour to enclose copy of a communication received from the Foreign Trade Department with regard to the standing of Nordisk Fjerfabrik.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
The Secretary,
Colonial Office,
Downing Street.
